“How many Anglicans does it take to change a lightbulb? I don’t know…go check the liturgy for it!” We Anglicans are a liturgical people. Our worship is guided by intentional, formative rhythms that proclaim the faith and invite us to participate. This should be true when we teach generosity or stewardship. Churches should fi nd contextually appropriate ways to engage this subject in both didactic teaching and liturgical formation.
Three ways your church can lift the virtue of generosity through liturgy:
- Develop a Collect for Generosity to be prayed throughout the year.
- Lift up those who give for the work of the gospel in the Prayers of the People.
- Share a story of your church’s impact and outreach before inviting the ushers to receive the morning offering.
